Application DueMay 15, 2026

Justin Reid Ehrenwerth
The Jewish Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Justin Reid Ehrenwerth Community Impact Award.
Established in memory of Justin Reid Ehrenwerth, the award honors a remarkable leader whose work advanced environmental protection, environmental justice, civil rights, and democratic values. Justin held senior leadership roles in the U.S. federal government and the nonprofit sector and was widely respected for his commitment to strengthening communities, protecting vulnerable populations, and advancing fair and effective public policy.
The Justin Reid Ehrenwerth Community Impact Award recognizes a nonprofit organization whose work reflects Justin’s values, ideals, and aspirations. Eligible organizations should have work focused on environmental justice, civil rights, the protection of democratic institutions, environmental and coastal resilience, combating antisemitism, or educational initiatives that address these issues.
Organizations must primarily operate in one of the regions where Justin dedicated much of his work and service: Pennsylvania, Washington, DC, or Louisiana.
Through this award, the Selection Committee seeks to support organizations pursuing innovative and impactful approaches to the challenges about which Justin cared deeply. Award amounts will be determined by the Selection Committee and are intended to provide meaningful support for initiatives that can produce substantial community impact.
We encourage nonprofit organizations whose work aligns with these priorities to apply and to share this opportunity with colleagues and partners who may be eligible.
