WTAE Highlights Patient Safety Trends and NPSB

On May 20, Pittsburgh's ABC affiliate, WTAE, interviewed Jewish Healthcare Foundation's President and CEO Karen Wolk Feinstein, PhD, for a story highlighting worsening patient safety trends both regionally and nationally. Dr. Feinstein emphasized the importance of investing in and developing solutions that will prevent harm before it occurs. PRHI Board member, Dr. Paul Phrampus, discussed contemporary patient safety challenges and innovative solutions using simulation technology. The feature also highlights the proposed National Patient Safety Board (NPSB), but it doesn't fully capture the scope of the NPSB, an independent federal board aimed at preventing major categories of harm through research and development rather than investigating individual events.
