The Pitch explores innovative technological solutions aimed at preventing medical errors in healthcare settings, highlighting the crucial role of collaboration between healthcare systems and innovators. The documentary showcases the creative ways new technologies are being used to improve patient safety, offering hope for a future with fewer medical errors. Featuring expert interviews, recent breakthroughs, and the story of a young innovator navigating the medical frontier, the film delivers an optimistic message about the potential for technological advancement to transform patient care.
Funded by JHF, the documentary aims to raise awareness of the potential for innovation in patient safety. The project stems from JHF’s grant to the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative which launched the Patient Safety Technology Challenge to inspire students and innovators to find new ways to reduce preventable harm in health care. Dr. Feinstein served as the executive producer of the film, with JHF Patient Safety Consultant Ariana Longley and JHF Chief Communications Officer Scotland Huber as co-producers.
The Pitch premiered in theaters across the U.S. throughout September, with a screening tour supported by JHF in New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Palo Alto (Silicon Valley). Organized in partnership with film creators Tall Tale Productions, each screening was followed by a distinguished panel discussion (the Boston panel recording is available below) featuring top patient safety and technology experts and moderated by the film’s director, Mike Eisenberg.
